Stock Skid Plate

I've managed to lose or strip the bolts that hold the factory skid plate on (the one that covers the oil filter) and I'm wondering what to do. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you correct it. I would like to buy skid row plates, but they're not in the budget right now.

drill out the holes, get a tap and die set tap new threads for bigger bolts.

or get a set of self tapping screws that are bigger than the stock ones.
