i know they all are but im looking to buy an older style corvette 92' down to about 60s/70s. Im looking for a cheaply used car, that i could drop a nice 350 in. im looking for a non rusted car that might need a few minor details but upgradability since this will be the car i drive for a long time. if any one has any suggestions please feel free to reply.

Cheap and Corvette don't belong in the same sentence, but you may find a pretty decent deal on a 1982 or a 1984 vette considering those are the 2 years you will find the crossfire injection..... I cant think of 2 better year vettes that you could pull or alter the engines on.

1982 is the old stingray body style
1984 is the newer C4 body style
Cheverolet didn't produce a Vette in 1983 so they could retool for the C4 body style.

They didn't.... but I am sure he was just typing years and forgot that one.... not to mention that 1982 and 1984 were not very good years. Not junk but just not very good ones. If I was going to buy a vette to remove the orig engine and replace with a worked one these are the 2 years I would look for..... just my 2 cents.

Officially, There were no 1983 Corvettes. There were forty seven 1983 Corvettes made but none were ever sold. The National Corvette Museum has the only 1983 known at this time. The new Corvette plant in Bowling Green, KY closed in October of 1982 to begin retooling for the 1984 Corvette. Production began in January of 1983 and the press received their first view of the 1984 Corvette in January of 1983. In February, the first production 1984 Corvettes were sold to the public. In March of 1983, the 1984 Corvette officially went on sale in the United States, except for California and a month later, in April, the 1984 Corvette went on sale in California. By October of 1983, the plant was in full speed production.

I didn't know that.... but I am no Corvette expert. I just know that the crossfire injection models were not very good.

Thanks for the history lesson... I'm always willing to learn.

If I had to pick a good year vette I would probably go with the 67-69 L88s with the 427. Thats just beastly right there. Also, you guys say every vette year was a good year. I hear late 70s was very bad because of the gas crunch. It caused crappy performance readings, and the cars weren't built well either. Thats just what I hear though.

hmm thats something but a 69 vette?? for some reason I would rather get a 69 camaro with a 350

That would be a hot car but..... He wants one cheap so he can drop a built 350 in.... would you want to see a classic 427 vette destroyed by dropping a 350 in it? I figured if you were going to chop the car up with non original parts than you would want to find one that was least desirable for collecting while still getting a clasic Corvette look.

Your right Kenwood, I prob. would look for an old muscle car for a built engine not a corvette there are alot of stronger parts for muscle cars than there are for vettes such as rear suspension and so on, not to mention the weight on a 69 Camaro is a lot less then a vette.

G.O.A.T. as in GTO GOAT or is that an abbreviation of something? I would kill for a GTO GOAT, but building cars is just not my thing anymore and I can't afford to buy one that has already been restored. I am at a point in my life where I just want to get in it and drive it, thats why I bought the 1992 Vette. I had a 1976 Vette I bought to restore and 3 years later I sold it for what I paid for it and never restored a thing on it because I didn't have the time. I have a lot of respect for you guys out there that restore these clasic cars.... spending the time, money and patients.
