Does your state require that both plates be displayed "properly"? I lived in CT where having the front plate on wasn't mandatory, now I'm in VA where I've heard it is, but not so sure. I don't want to put holes in my new after market air dam, so I've just had my plate in my windshield. Stupid laws.

I lived in Va for quite some time (1979-1989) and I don't remember having 2 plates......just 1 for the rear! I currently live in Florida and we have only 1 plate on the rear.

Va. may have changed the laws since I left.

Yep, in Va you need to have both plates visible, I guess having one in the window would work. Or if you get stopped, tell them it fell off, and you've called DMV and the new one is on it's way. :-)

I wouldn't sweat it too much. Once you've installed the license plate, you won't see the holes any more. I have recently lived in VA, and travel there often. No one has their plates in the window. I bet there's a reason (fines).
