1987 subaru dl

I am working on a 1987 dl and it will not start with the key although it will start very easily when you pop start it. it had a fried starter and ignition switch i replaced both of them. it is getting spark when cranking and it is carbureted. yet it still will not start unless you pop start it and it will run fine has anyone ever experienced this before or does anyone have any clues what could be causing it. thank you very much for any help you can offer.
