Guiddy are you saying don't sand the primer at all? I have read your articles and they are very interesting. But the one thing I'm confused about is the guys in my model club say you have to sand the primer. they said you do it like the bodyshop they sand the primer other wise how are you suppose to get a mirrior like finish. I would like to try it your way but wouldn't the texture of the primer show through?.

I sand the primer, using 1200 grit, a very small piece, and I simply lightly move the paper over the surface of the model once or twice and that is all, using plenty of water.
You can burn through the primer quicker than you could say it, so to those who keep having this trouble I would say don't bother!
I have no problem sanding primer, as I am light and I am used to it!

With practice you can crack it, but for those who can't, you will still get the mirror finish. It just takes time.
If you are using a metalic the surface of the paint will be rough before lacquer anyway!

I never sand the primmer. The only time i sand is if there is some dust etc that has landed in the paint.
In the end its up to you but i wouldn't bother
