I wonder how much hp the engine has... For a few years now it has been rumoured that F1 cars push around 800 or a bit more hp. My guess is that they soon will be reaching 900 really soon or have already done so (the top teams, especially the BMW engine. That thing is a beast!)

Nope, all of them are V10-s And 750 - I don't think so. I'd say *at least* 850. Even more.

Amazing what you can do with a 3.0 litre NA engine...

About what? About power? Nope. No one will ever disclose the true numbers that those engines are putting down.

As fro V10 vs V12 - I *believe* that since 2001 it is put in the rules that the engine should be a V10. Check www.fia.com (I'm too lazy right now)

Yeah, I think they must have reach th 900 (BMW at least) or are very closer. But that information is not discussed anywhere.

Ferrari was over 800hp like 2 or more years ago.

Toyota was the brand contemplating going V12 in their new car, but Max and Bernie stopped them. They aleged that will increase the already expensive F1. Imagine this scenario, toyota develop a very good V12 engine, and win some races, let's say in a 2 year time frame. What do you think will Ferrari, Mercedes, BMW, Renault, Jaguar and Honda do? The cost of R/D is amazing. So they better stop it.

Ferrari will be starting the new season with F2001! Now that was a surprise! With McLaren and Williams progressing, I don't think the reds will be able to challenge for the win. That is, unless reliability strikes theother two. Damn.

This thread was from long time ago but 750 seems right. I think BMW has the most powerful engine as of now and it has somewhere around 750 hp.:D

I think it was more than that in the 800 plus area, in a recent F1 Racing magazine they listed the horspower for some teams

About the F2002 I hate the WHITE bargeboards:bloated:

I would say closer to 900 than 800. And the BMW revvs to more that 18500! Not bad for a four-stroke, heh? :)

Well, the seen to have grown on me. It was the same with the white front wing at first. And now the F1-2000 I consider the most beautiful F1 car ever :)

I believe the numbers on BMW are 870hp for 2002, the most of any engine. Ferrari has somewhere around 840-845 hp, and McLaren have 790hp, which is low. I don't know about any other teams, except Renault have aroudn 820hp, and Sauber have a detuned Ferrari engine- don't know the hp rating on that though.
