alright i figured this be the best place to start.

Im into street racing. but i dont have a car yet ;). lol yeh im a newb but anyways...

i know im not gonna start racin as soon as i get it. thats just stupid because i wouldnt be good at shiftin. but, i also know its not good to race a stock civic. ill mod it up a bit first. (cold air intake, new air filter, etc.)

anyways. im new...and im facinated with civics. And more then likely thats what im going to get.

I wont get hte car for another year. (no i dont have my lisence, * i spelt that wrong*, but i need to start learning about the car before i get it). Im going to hang out on these forums and get to know fellow civic enthusiasts.

Also, can u let me know if a civic is a good idea to start with? I know i can get them for a decent price, and honda engines usualy last like forever so im looking forward to getting one.

It's a good car to start with, but please don't mod it and be another 16 year old who thinks his Civic is king shit because of an intake and some goofy spoiler.

im doing this for fun and because i love that car...

so plz dont think im gonna be another one of the fags that passes u like he knows what hes doing. ;)

$2,500-$3,000 into a civic you'll be pretty peppy. They're definently great first cars to build onto and learn from. There's nothing you can't do to a honda, and you'll more than likely be able to do it cheaper than with any other car. Engine swaps and/or turbo kits are the way to go.

Well you are already starting out wrong by street racing. What's the point? Trying to end your life before it even starts? There are plenty of venues you can attend that are legal and with safety in mind.

You can easily attend autocrosses, hill climbs, drift events, and some track days.

Ha street racing..DOn't get into that bro. Its stupid. Just go to a track if your dying to race someone. Racing on the streets is not a good idea.

All the tracks around me have it so you have to be at least 18yo to run, except for the junior dragster class. So just check your local drag strip rules before u go.

yeah around here they have a high school division or sumthen and u just need a parent consent to race. im suprised they dont let 16-17 year olds race where u live it seems like that would keep more kids from racing on the streets and killing themselves!!

on your shifting practie... the trannies are cheap these days... get an extra one and have it laying around... practice all your shifting on your stock clutch and current trans... after you have it down/better on the shifting... get a better clutch and drop in the spare trans you didnt leanr to shift on. my girl RAPED my trans/clutch when she 1st began driving a stick!

I knew a kid that was street racing one night and ended up smashing into another car at well over 100 mph. The lady that was driving the other car was killed upon impact, the kid however survived. Later that night when the kid was concious in the hospital he found out that the lady that he hit and killed.....was his mom.

Think about that one next time you wanna race on the street. You can end up killing someone you love. Sure, you might hurt someone that you don't even know, but how would you feel if some kid hurt someone you know and love?

Anyways, the civic isn't much of a race car, not at all really. If you want to have a decently fast civic you will have to dump a good $5,000 into just the motor, then there's the cost of the car, the suspension, etc...

I know what you mean about loving the car though. I have a 2000 civic and I love it to death, it's a great little car. Do I bother to try and make it fast? Naa, not worth my time and I don't have enough money for that lol. But yeah, go ahead and get a civic, you won't regret it. :)
