Anyone heard or seen anyone who has converted a second gen t-top mr2 to hardtop? How would I go about doing such a thing? Thanks.

why do you want to change the t top? They are a lot rarer than the hard tops. if you really want a hard top you should probably sell your t top and buy a hard top, cause a conversion will be alot more complicated and not worth the effort and money involved. sell the t top cause there worth more and buy a hard top and use the rest of the money to get an engine upgrade or maybe some shiney wheels.

You are 100% WRONG there man, sorry. The hardtops are extremely hard to find, especially in good condition. The hardtop is lighter and more rigid than the t-tops. Hardtop is ideal for the mr2 racer.

The conversion HAS been done, join mr2oc.com and go here:

A long, expensive procedure, but way cool. If you can find a hardtop 2nd gen buy it. Buy it really fast.

Mmm I Guessed Hardtop Rarer... Prefer Hard Top But Kinda Like Taking The Roof Off Now... Just Gonna Make Roll Cage Hard And Bitch If It Leaks! (touch Wood)

I've Got A Set Of Engineering Plans To Go From T-top To Convertable!

yeah man, hardtops are much more rare than t-tops. and the hardtops have more headroom, not that that really matters. its hard to find one with anything but t-tops. the conversion is expensive and a pain in the ass! i was lucky enough to find my hardtop and buy it without having to do a conversion.

Hi,

I've been lucky enough to own both a '93 hardtop and a '91 hardtop. Hardtops are definitely harder to find and in my opinion (and part of the country) worth it - it rains a lot up in Seattle. If you can't find a hardtop, what's easier then converting a T-tops MR2 is converting a sunroof MR2. Conicelli Auto (do a google search) told me that the hardtop metal "skin" is still available from Japan. You can also get a hardtop headliner. Basically they would cut the sunroof (and most of the top metal) off and weld and blend the new part into place. It would be a lot cheaper then doing it with T-tops.

Hi , I own a 55 Caddy De Ville 2 dr. h.t., I want to chop off the top, has anyone done this ?, I've seen this done with the right boot cover and some leather crafting along the windshield it look's good , my question is do you have to do any modifacations on the frame? are their safety issues ? do the door's close tightly and hold? any pitfall's in the middle of the opearation and so on. Thank's Bill PS I live in Vegas it rains about twice a year, my theory being why pay upwards of 50K for a real ragtop when I paid 4K for this coupe and the way I figure it the conversion will cost under $500.00, or am I wrong?
