this can handle what you want:

authorized dealers charge about $500-$600...

or about half price on eBay...

What is with you and recommending overpriced equipment? The JBL equipment costs almost half the ebay cost and works just as well if not better for his setup. Alpine is good too. I like JL and all, but way to expensive...

Also the ebay cost of the JL is almost as much as the MSRP of the JBL... The MSRP of the JL is like 400 is it not?

Ebay of GTO http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=18797&item=5715671752&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

we use jbl at work to handle some of our P.A. and Pro Sound duties along with Bogen and Crown. I know for a fact jbl kickass and I would recommend it for any commercial app in a heartbeat. they really know how to throw (project) sounds. but when they switched from 110/220/440volt systems to 12volts I personally think they lost something

car audio, i'm thinking mmats, MA (the higher end), Alpine V, hifonics (they remind me of early 90's targa), JL (of course), clarion, boston, and pioneer

that is the most sporadic list of car audio manufacturers that I've ever seen in one sentence before. You actually have JL in the same sentence as Pioneer and MA, without even mentioning anything remotely high end

he already decided on jbl (the pro sound people) so i'm not going to link up on all of my suggestions, but here's a few that can get the job done w/out breaking a sweat...

not bad for $300 and you get power in reserve

there's no competition, professional engineers said they measured up to 733 watts rms, 50% higher, (not lower like most companies) than rated output and said it won't quit no matter what. read for yourself.

they all got what you need in every line...

go with the alpine mrd-m301. i just got one to power my alpine type-r 12 and it sounds great. i found a brand new 301 on the net for $208.

aside from JL, Alpine is one of the few cats I'll get down with...
that's a good deal 'cause even though they claim 350 @ 2ohms,
it's no doubt in my mind your getting up to a clean nickle rms...

i have no reason to believe that alpine underrates their stuff, and i bought a dei 600d for 120 shipped, it does 400 watts into 2 ohms, and will do 600 watts into 1 ohm, just as good as the alpine considering its class D

it's pretty much a matter of what they consider too much distortion. Allowing a little more distortion, (Alpine earned their rep for not doing that), is the oldest trick in the book when it comes to the fudging of the numbers...

Their amps are rated at 1% THD just like anything else....

are you saying that because everybody use a uniformed standard, initiatives like the CEA-2006 are pointless?

sr20de4evr
08-29-2004, 09:05 PM
not pointless, it'll help to keep the 2000 watt lanzars and 6000 watt power acoustic amps to a minimum. Anything respectable already rated according to that standard though, so it won't really do anything for those. Alpine is rated at 1% THD just like any respectable amp out there today, they might be slightly underrated but I would be VERY surprised if the 301 put out any more than 400rms.

just being a little sarcastic about the cea thing, but I'll stand by that good nickel thing...until I find a review saying otherwise...
