hey i was just wondering if you could use a propane torch to weld some exaust pipes.

wish i did =\ im stealing police series flowmasters from a 3rd gen cop car...but im taking the whole exaust instead of just the mufflers, time is money

nope, cannot weld with propane. Get yourself a cheap Mig welder of take it somewhere.

whatever you do, look out for the gas tank and lines.

actually, invest in a pipe cutter, much faster and no heat/unwanted light and attention to deal with... esp if ur stealing..

just get some cut-outs for $40 and weld them in... work better than any exhaust system, and don't have to worry about getting arrested

You can braze with oxygen acetylene but propane doesnt get hot enough for steel.

If I were a stealing bastard I would rent a cordless sawzall. That would make quick work of any exhaust pipes.

but it makes a helluva lot of noise. id go with pipe cutters.

u dont get it..these flowmaster are police series...there like 2 1/2 ft long and so big u could roll a grapefruit in it.

well i went to wal-mart and the pipe cutter was WAY 2 small and its sunday so nothings open...well hardware anyway...im to the point where im gonna say fuck it and borrow/rent a sawzall run cut the pipe pull em off throw em in my car and leave...


...let's say estimated im at the pipe with sawzall..about how much time would it talk to get thru a 2-2 1/2 in pipe?

sometimes at work we use the sawsall instead of the torches ...it takes a couple minutes each cut. at the max 5 minutes. Depends how good of a blad u have.

30 seconds if you have a new blade for one good cut.

but a pipe cutter has to slide around the whole pipe to cut it and the space im working with is limited...and it takes about 10-20mins a cut and i need to make 2

quit being a bitch willis and use a sawzall. It will only be real noisy until you get through the outside of the pipe. you could have the whole thing cut out in less than 2 minutes which is faster than a torch and i really dont think its that loud at all.

a pipe cutter is useless because you cant get it around the whole pipe.

really man, best bet is the sawzaw 2 min your done and running your happy ass off back to the car or truck and thats all... pipe cutter too big, takes to long to set, tooo much time involved, good idea on the cutting of the exhausts!! never thought of it theres a few slp's loud mouths here ill take a pick of what one i want and get my ass a cutter!! well, i would recommend a pipe cutter still, but use the one w/ the chain style then... but i would borrow one, they are expensive...

nonetheless, i think you can pull it off with a sawzall, but do it fast!

because theres always the chance that they can be like "yeah its my car" then im like "u think i could get those pipe from u?" then he be like "nah i think i need to keep em" why should i chance that when i could just take em for free?

omg, ur taking it too seriously....that car is going no where it has been sitting there for ATLEAST 2 yrs..no one is gonna drive it..the int is junked up the radiator and fan are missing from the eng...i doubt its even the car of the guty across the way...its an old cop car they parked in a field and left to rott...now if it was obvious someone owned the car or had intentions of driving it in the future i wouldnt fuck with it... so its not stealing.

well there's not now...i went to the guy and made him a good offer and he said sure if i take em off...so i bought em...now i gotta go take em off and not worry now i can even run power from HIS house =D

well i went to take them off and i cut them on the FRONT of the drivetrain because it goes over top of it and the cut is all the way thru so its seperated but i cant pull the mufflers/pipe back thru the drivetrain if it wasnt for that i'd have em...anyone have any ideas to get em out the back besides cutting BEHIND the drivetrain?

can you bring a board out there to put a jack on so it doesn't sink and lift the car up to give you more clearance between the axle and the body?

i left it sitting on jacks when i left last night..i belive one of the jacks is by the rear wheel so that would be giving me LESS clerance right? so where do i jack it to give it MORE?

????im getting rdy to go over there..ill be leaving in about 15 minutes..anyone know where to jack it up to give it more clearence?
