Should i keep my stock rims with NICE tires and powdercoat them black or graphite, or should i go with some konig holes 18" graphite rims and skimp on the tires?

Ive got 18" holes and toyo proxes on my 93' Si. I got a hella deal on them(750$....brand new)! I've got tons of compliments on my wheels. But, on the other hand, I love any honda slammed with small wheels or stock wheels with really nice tires. I say, unless you get a really good deal on them, save your stocks and put that money under the hood! But thats just me.

thats what i was thinkin - cuz of the turbo / motor build im also gonna do... Navy is holdin me up though - sent me to a 3 month school 1200 miles away from my lude :( - 2 more months left.....

whatever you do, dont skimp on tires. You will be so mad at yourself when you race some dumb ass through a corner and he has the stickier tires, and beats you. TIRES ARE EVERYTHING.....after the engine of course.

imo, nothing makes a statement (looks wise) as a nice set if rims. you can always upgrade the tires later. plus you could prolly sling 5th gen wheels for a pretty good price.

bah - I'll just save. I am worried about rubbing though. should i bump the size down to 17's or what size rim / tire / suspension do you all recommend? thats a weak spot of mine - haven't had any experience with suspensions. - looking for spring / shock / strut combo with a small drop in height

i'm pretty sure the 5th gens have it a lot easier with 18's than a 4th. do you have it lowered? b/c if you don't, or very little, the 18's dhould fit nicely. and i feel there is a noticable difference in 17 to 18. i'd run 18's but they won't fit (2.75" drop, hehe)

I personally like 17's better, I have 17's on mine. I have a drop of about an inch, and I think the 17's just fit the wheel well really nicely. It's really a matter of preferance and what your goals are.

18s will be running close. You should go with 17s. Aftermarket wheels make your car loock better

im not sure what my drop is on my 4th gen is. i think its about 2" and my 18" holes fit just fine, no rubs. but i do have very little rubber on them....115/35/18 toyo's.

what is the offset on your Holes?
ludeguy1
08-24-2004, 03:38 PM
i dont know my offset is. i just know they were for prelude. I think the prelude and accord have the same offset, but are different from the civics. you should be able to find the offset wherever you buy the wheels. maybe konig website?

yep, that's what i'm sayin...
the only reason i could see anyone liking 17's more than 18's is b/c 1. they can't afford the 18's or 2. 18's won't fit, without using half an inch of tire.

There's also the fact that 18 inch wheels greatly reduces turning and accelerating capability. Pretty much screwed for either Autocross or Drag.

dunno about you guys, but the most i'd go on my lude is 16. imo, the perfect mix between function and style.

first of all, dbebesi; if you have stock wheels then why the hell is that picture under your name of a set of RIMS!??? odd???!! ... also, 18s are way more stylish and will attract a lot more attention than any 16s, 16s dont look good at all, no matter what brand, style, color, etc.... my car has way more personality than with the stocks... also i still take turns at 80 with my 18 low pros and they grip just fine ... a pair of Giovanna 18s for 725 with good tires, and you would pass that up??!!!

i have a 1.2 inch drop, not too much, but just enough to close the wheel gap, looks great, and i put 17" motegis on, and love the look, i feel 18s would look like a little too much, plus its like putting a rubberband around it, atleast theres a little bit on my 17s, just my input, plus i got an amazing deal on mine as well, also the handling is fantastic.
good luck with your decision though,

If you don't race or rally, there is no reason why you shouldn't get wheels larger than stock. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/images/icons/icon14.gif
But you do have to sacrifice handling and acceleration to look awesome.
