Hello, I have a 1992 Jeep Cherokee Sport, 192000 miles, alway's ran fine.I drove it to the store ( about 10 miles) and it ran fine. Got in it to leave and the Transmission started slipping all at once. I've had other vehicle's that developed transmission problem's but not all of a sudden like this. Fluid level is good and doesn't smell burned or feel gritty. Could this be a sensor or computer problem. Don't have the buck's for new or rebuilt tranny right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank's.

the transmission slips because of worn bands or low fluid... you may also try having the filter and fluid changed first. you could also try adding some Lucas oil stabilizer to the fluid, there is one specific to the tranny. usually a more sudden problem is from poor fluid circulation (filter clogged or blocked)

I fixed the problem. The Throttle position sensor was bad and reading like the throttle was wide open. Changed the sensor and Tranny started working fine. Thank's

Yep. Had a similar problem with mine. Slipping plus erractic shifting. Tested the TPS and it tested fine. Decided to replace it anyway, now it shifts fine.
