99 Silverado 5.3 Vortec. Problem- Engine Misses When I Give It Gas, I Don't Have To Gun It Just Normal Driving. Weather I'm Driving As Low As 40mph And Just Want To Go 50mph, Or If I Want To Go To Passing Gear The Engine Misses. Solutions I Have Tried Change All Wires, No Help, Change All Spark Plugs With Platinum Plugs Which Is What Came In It And Calls For, No Help, Change Fuel All Fuel Injectors, No Help. In The Old Days Changing The Module In The Distributor Would Take Care Of It Or If Worse, The Distributor Would Need To Be Pull Out And Replace The Pick Up Coil. To Be Honest I Think It's Something Simple, Just Have Not Figured It Ou. Any Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated, Thanks. Oh Yes I Did Take It To An Auto Parts Store And Had The Codes Read And It Said I Was Haveing A Problem With The #7 Cylinder So I Check The Compression And It Was Ok. Anybody Familiar With This I Would Appreciate Your Solution, Thanks. YES I CHANGED THE FUEL FILTER AND MADE SURE I HAVE THE RIGHT WIRE GOING TO THE RIGHT CYLINDER.

Have you inspected the throttle body? It may need a good cleaning.

imnmarang you may be right. see what you think. there are times when i'm sitting with the engine on in park or behind other vehicles and the gas indicator goes to empty and i know i have a full tank or half or three quarters even a quarter tank. is this an indication my fuel pump may be going out or the regulator may need to be replaced and the pump will still work but my gauge will no longer mark at all. as soon as i start driving my gauge marks correctly again. it does not do it all the time but it has happen enough to where it has my attention. it started doing this about a month and a half ago.

Powerdrill, the problem with your gas gage not working right is the fuel sending unit.

the gauge has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with fuel pressure, only how much is in the tank....gee a pressure gauge would be handy in the cab, but that would just be another gauge for my wife to say, "I did look at it...I just didn't notice that the needle went down to zero. It happened all the sudden and then it quit." like "I didn't no what that meant untill i saw the CHECK GAUGES LIGHT and the CHECK OIL light"

If your gas gauge is showing full...empty...or different other things it ABSOLUTELY means that your fuel sending unit is bad!

You have a separate fuel level sensor in the tank aslo,as well as the fuel pump modual if your going to be in there may as well do the whole unit as one, quick tip on doing the fuel pump just move the bed back about two feet, pick it up and let the front part rest on the tires and the back part can rest on the bumper, very easy to get to the pump without having to drop the tank.lets see i think there's 4-6 bolts holding the bed on frame,3 torx holding filler neck to bed and the ground is right around that area and i think all you have to do is remove the tag light bulbs with wiring let them hang out of the way.If i remember right thats all there is to removeing the bed.somebody add if i missed something :bigthumb:
