My friend's shop's customer...

So yesterday, I was at my friend's shop, out here in Phoenix, just visiting, as this new house I just got is some distance away from his shop, and I don't get to hang out there too often anymore.
Anyhow, this one customer he has, that has always annoyed me a bit with his talk, happens to come in.
Let me give you a background on this guy: his car is a 1990 Civic DX 4-dr. It used to have a 1.5-liter SOHC (88-90HP non VTEC, for those unfamiliar with Hondas), and an automatic. He had some bolt-ons on it, and although me and my friend would both shake our heads talking about him, he was a paying customer, so...
Well, with the old "set-up" (if you can all it that), he claimed to have beaten a Mustang GT. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/loser.gif
So anyhow, he now has a SOHC ZC (1.6-liter 108HP) motor in his car, with a 5-speed, and I/H/E which my friend installed. He also gutted the interior. Obviously, if he thought the old set-up was "fast", he now thinks his car is a rocket. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif
So yesterday, hanging-out at my friend's shop, he sees my SE-R, and we start talking about SE-R's he's supposedly raced.
He tells me that there was some newer SE-R that he raced, that beat him, but not by much, and as he tells the story: "as I got next to the car I hear this 'pssshhh'" - like an SE-R needs a turbo to barely beat his ass.
So after listening to this drivel, when it was time for me to go home, I challenged this fool.
I said "hey man, if you think your car can take me, I'm leaving right now, and you can follow me to the freeway".
I was actually trying to be nice, as I know he'll have a better chance from a roll. His "torque", or lack of it, will be his undoing from a stop. Let's put it this way: my stock SE-R puts out more WTQ at 2200 RPMs than his fully-bolted motor has at its peak.
Well, he takes the bait, and does follow me, but as it turns out, the freeway was clogged. So I start to exit, motioning for him through the rear-view to follow.
After exiting, we found a perfect spot.
We were side-by-side, at the light, one lane going back into the freeway, and the other into the access-road that runs parallel to the freeway.
I told him he can just go straight, and I'll enter the freeway (we'll still be able to see each other). I was actually at a disadvantage, as my route was turning a bit to the left, while his was straight.
Anyhow, light turns, and as I offer a prayer to my clutch, I slipped it a little, and got a good launch out of it (but I smelt the clutch afterwards :(). Needless to say, I destroyed this idiot's Civic. Before the end of second, I was an easy 6-7 lengths ahead of him, and pulliing.
He knows my SE-R is basically stock.
I thought that would be the end of that, but as it turns out, he turned around and went back to my friend's shop, and told my friend: "I wasn't paying attention to the lights" (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/disappointed.gif)
Anyhow, my friend tells me he wants a re-match. I think I'll race him again - with my Isuzu Rodeo.
What a dip.

He wasn't paying attention to the light???? That makes him sound even worse. Now he has a slow car and no skills. Maybe you can have your friend make some money out of this.

Sup Brandon.
My friend's shop is called RToyz Motorsports, on 19th Av and Indian School Rd.
As for the Domestic VS Imports...you know it. I am actually not too far from Speedworld now...got a brand-new house right around Grand Ave. and Bell.
If you give me a call that day, we can meet up at my house, it's on the way.
Is the 'Stang done?

nice kill, you should race him in a wheelchair... it would offer him a better chance... i wouldn't go up against your car in my j30 when it was up and operational... much less if i was in his ride... he has some balls though, i'll give him that.

No no you see in his little world of tea, cup cakes and magic cats he thought his car would kill carrrnuttts. So really their were no balls required.

sweet, i've heard of that store before. Unfortunately i cannot go to imports vs. domestics. Military duty that weekend grrrr. Stang is done, however it has not been tuned on a dyno yet. So i have no idea whats going on underneath those injectors. Lean, rich i don't know but i want it tuned before i get racing with it. Odometer has 4 miles on it
