a/c compressor noise

I have a '95 Mustang GT, 150k on it. My a/c compressor is making noise (intermittant) but happening more and getting louder. The air is still coming out cold and over all seems to be functioning normally.
I'm guessing my compressor is on the way out. Any thoughts?

You may be able to save the compressor if you bleed the r134, add 4 onces of refrigerant oil then gas it up. If not then it is going to lock up and then you will be buying a new compressor. Put the oil in the suction side of the compressor(large hose)

Thanks Malcolm, I'll give it a shot.

its hard to say it could just be the a/c clutch . its cheaper than a whole compressor but special tools are required to get the clutch off and on.
