hi everyone,

i'm leaving tomorrow for college, and my suburban needs to be in good shape to make the 1000 mile drive to iowa. unfortunately, the power steering fluid is leaking out. the thing is, the bottom of the pump is dry as a bone. could the steering gear box be leaking?

I say if you have to drive, get a case of power steering fluid and stop every hundred miles or so and check your level. Good luck.

Did you take off the power steering pump or gear box, I'm a little confused about where you said the leak was coming from. Almost never have I heard of a gearbox leaking, however, I have had hoses go all the time. Need more info in order to help you. -Chris
