Tranny in 2000 Malibu Classic same as Daewoo Nubira?

My dad just got a 2000 Malibu Classic, he traded in a 2000 Daewoo Nubira for it. Anyway, the mechanic at the place he got the Malibu from told him the transmission in the Nubira and the Malibu are nearly identical. Is that true?

I am not sure if it is true, I kind of doubt it. However, at the shop we have never had a Daewoo in for the transmission. They come for everything else imaginable though.
