AC air flow problem

I cannot get air out of the middle vents windshield and floor only.
I have read about the vacuum line as a solution to this problem.
Is the vacuum line located on the left side of the firewall facing the Car.
If so mine is fine. I have also read about the directional valve sticking (had a problem similar in an 83 Lincoln) Where is the Valve? Also does anyone know how much a programmable AC unit cost?

In a Park Avenue 92, the vacuum line is more to the right. There are two lines. I found one of my line disconnected. Connecting it restored flow to the vents. Jimmy

I have a 96 PA and had the same problem. You are correct in that the vacuum control is on the left facing the vehicle. The problem with my PA was the connection of the vacuum hose assembly to the A/C's computer control (which is located under/behind the glove box). The price of a new AC computer is around $350 - $450 depending on where you get it (salvage or dealer)- also highly recommended to replace is the vacuum line harnesss. The problem with the A/C computer box is not the electronics but rather the moulded plastic ports attached to the computer's plastic housing. It is these ports that the vacuum lines that control each door for the vents, floor, dash, connect. What happens is the plastic ports detoriate and become very "rubbery" and thus collapse under vacuum. This collapse cuts off vacuum supply to the ports that control the middle vents. If you are interested in a quick fix and have a free day, I may be able to walk you through a repair that will cost you around $6. I did a "makeshift" repair to see if it would work bc my only alternative was to drop $400 - $600 to have the dealer repair. So far, it has been over a year now, I have not had any problems.
