My alero will start and run for about 2 seconds and then die. The security light isn't on so I don't think it's a passcode issue. Never had any problem with the car before. Any ideas???

I went out this morning and my car started fine. All of the gauges are working fine (they didn't move at all yesterday) and the car runs fine. I'm really glad it's working okay now but I would still like to hear it if anyone knows what the problem was.

Yo, man my car is dead right now as we speak. I own a 1999 Old Alero and at first the security light came on then I tried to start the car a couple of hours later (the security light was still on) and this time it started for a few seconds and then died.
THEN, now the freakin gauges (gas, temp) wont respond to my key. My car wont even tell me how many miles it has because the digital instrument panel doesn't work. I checked ALL of the fuses in my car (both sides of the dash and under the hood) all of my fuses are good.
Does ANYONE know what could be the problem and how to fix it? PLEASE
Thanks,
Jarrett

Well turns out it WAS a fuse. It must have fell out because my uncle or I NEVER touched the freakin little thing. But it was a 10A fuse closest to the drivers door. Yeah and then as we plugged a new one in the gauges responded.
Then after the gauges responded my little friend the "Security light" popped up and started to blink. I read a earlier forum about leaving your factory key in the ignition for 10 minutes, on the "On" position and I guess it worked because my car started up fine....
Yes, it is creepy! (but I still love my baby)
