93' 1500 Dies While Running

Recently my 93' 1500 (135k miles) died while running after 15 minutes. No start afterwards, would turn over, but doesnt fire up. After initial testing for fuel pump failure, no noise inside tank, fuse and relay both good, came to conclusion that pump was bad.
Towed it to mechanic. Next day truck fired up cold, but since I paid towing and was already there, had fuel pump (filters/strainers) replaced along with sending unit (rusted real good).
After getting it back, started right up, and after about 15 minutes, truck died while driving again.
My fuel side is all good, AC Delco good, and before I start haphazardly replacing parts, I.E. Ingnition modules/Coils/Distributors.
Can anyone give me a suggestion on what might be causing a hot engine failure, along with a non-hot engine start condition?
Because it starts when cold.

Had that exact problem. Turned out to be a bad ignition coil. As the coil heats up, (they heat up more when their failing) it stops creating spark. Once that coil cools down it will fire back up until it heats up. That took care of it for me.

Thanks,
Thats the direction I tend to lead toward, just looking to see if I may be overlooking anything.
I also do have a problem with my oil pressure gauge fluctuating. While idle, very low gauge pressure, when engaging throttle, pressure goes up.
Idle pressure shows a reading so low, my check gages light comes on. The sending unit has been replace, but condition hasnt improved. I change the oil recently, so I know the oil level is ok. Just dont know why the gauge fluctuates.

sounds like a worn out oil pump to me. When they age, the gears wear out, causing them to not pull alot of oil at low idle. When the engine revs, so does the pump, and it can pick up more oil. One thing to check, do other gages fluctuate when at idle? This happens sometimes, and is more of an electrical problem. just another thing to look at. -Joe

The oil pressure problem could also be a partially clogged oil pickup screen. You could try running some block cleaner thru it at you next oil change.

Rpreston-
what kind of block cleaner would you recommend? Not real familiar with whats out there?

if your truck is high mileage, you may be in need of a rebuild. The oil pressure is fed through the cam bearings and is a known problem with non-vortec GM V-8's. The stalling problem could be related, because ther is a safety feature built into the oil sender that when pressure dips below 4psi, the fuel pump shuts down to minimize engine damage

My truck is a 4.3 L V6. I definitely didnt want to hear that it may need rebuilding.
I have a 92 Olds Cutlass Supreme with a 4.3 L V6 with 180k miles and still runs great.
I hope I dont need a rebuild at 135k miles on my truck.

If the oil pressure switch is faulty your fuel pump will not work, Start the truck and disconnect the fuel pump relay if it dies the oil pressure switch is faulty. It is located on the passenger side firewall under the plastic cover that says"fuel pump fuse" & "fuel pump relay"
