a/c belt change? wtf

okay I am working on a friends 95gs and the haynes says to loosen the power steering mounting bolts then slide it (pry) it towards the motor.
1. why then is there a tensioner adjustment bolt and why cant I use that?
2. the "mounting bolts" are under the pulley from what I can see other than one in the back, so how do I move the damn thing without taking off the pulley?
any suggestions? I know this is a lame A$$ question,and is probably easy as hell, but I need help and the search just pulled up "i changed my belts" but no info. any one?

you'll have to turn the engine over to get the pulley openings in the right spot to get to the bolts... that is how my GS-T is anyway.... If the gs is close to the same you'll have to make sure that the pulley is square or the belt could get eaten!!! I know from experience lol

sorry my bad, I am tryin to replace the belt, not the pump. I cant seem to figure it out. (i am remidial i guess) I see the tensioner has a slide groove for an adjustment bolt, but thats not what the haynes man says. any suggestions on this.

Are you changing the a/c belt or the Psteering belt?

If you are doin the PS belt you will have to loosen the other bolts so the slide can do just that... slide

they are on the same belt with a tensioner in between, behind that belt is the alt. belt

yeah I am familiar with gst belts but this is set up different

when i put on my ps/ac belt all i had to do was loosein the tensioner witch is like by the ps pump i think it takes a 14 mm too i think

its got 2 bolt on it right, one behind the pulley and one for the tension adjustment. should I loosen both?

got it! in case someone has this problem here goes.
1. lift pass front side of car. and secure
2. find the tensioner between the power steering and a/c and loosen the nut behind the tensioner pulley.
3. loosen the tensioner adjustment bolt while pressing down the belt (racheting box end wrenches help here 14mm reversable) until you have enough slack on the belt.
4. twist belt to fit between the power steering pump pulley and side wall of the strut tower. remove belt from crankshaft pulley and a/c from under the car.
install is reverse
The haynes man is wrong again.lol. thanks to those that helped
