Door handle

I have a 95 black camry le and i noticed that alot of peoples drivers side door, door handle is broken or missing. I know mine is gone but i wanted to know does any one else have a camry with this issue.

a lot of this issue....buy it at ebay for replacement. Dealer cost too much.

I too have a '95 black LE and this has happened to all but one of my interior handles (4-door obviously). I did the eBay thing and am having a friend replace them as we speak (or as I type). I've noticed many people with a dash cracking problem as well. I believe that the fact of them being black causes the interior to get hotter than average in turn causing some of the synthetic materials (plastic door handles and vinyl dash) to become brittle and break down. Could be wrong, just a theory.

i think if i replace my exterior door handels i will buy it online and buy metal ones if i can find it. :-D Plastic breaks to quickly.

yup my door handle of my 94 camry xle broke off, now im down to a nub for a door handle till i can get it fixed.

My daughter broke drivers side handle off last winter. So I contact my buddy who owns a 14 employee body shop. He lets me buy an OEM replacement handle at his cost which is already painted the correct body color. He then proceeds to tell me the body shop book repair rate schedule allows 1/2 hour to make installation and tells me these door handles are real money loosers for the shop.

Now my buddy is pretty much into just managing his business and doing estimates and seldoms works with the tools anymore. So granted he's a little rusty and he had to look around for tools because he pushes a pencil most days. It takes him 2 hours to replace the door handle and I'm helping him hold whatever he tells me to hold. There are all kinds of rods, and bolts, clips, pins and other do dads with the handle. And the best part, bolts like to drop into dark tight spots within the door frame so you can spend 5 - 10 minutes looking for them.

My rule of thumb ---- If it takes a pro 2 hours it would take me 4. This job can be done by a hobby mechcanic (read shade tree mechcanic). But don't have a tight time schedule to meet, like taking you wife to dinner or some other trivel matter. You'll be late.
