this is a response to a question I had for Calmini. What I find interesting is at first it sounds like they may make thier rear bumper so it will fit with a 2" body lift, then after me answering thier question of where I got the lift it is a flat out no. Why not just say no in the first place?

Ben-
CALMINI manufactures a 3" body lift and we will make brackets for
the 3" body lift but not the 2" body lift. If you have any further questions
please call the sales department.

Why not just say "we do not make a two inch lift, bugger off" in the first place? I understand that it would be a CUSTOM job for the 2" (and would cost more) but they do not even seem to be interested in doing that.
And while I am whining about things FSRBIKER!!! Does EOE ever answer thier mail? (even if it is to say "don't know yet")

Damn, you guys just aren't resourceful enough. If CalMini won't make a bracket to fit your body lift, make your own! It wouldn't be that difficult if you have ever had your rear bumper off. The only issue you would have would be the receiver reinforcement bracket that bolts to the old spare tire winch mount. It may require some imagination, but if I can build my own steering stabilizer package, I am sure you can fabricate a bracket or two.
Just for @#$%& & grins, here is some of the stuff I had to use my imagination to create:
Steering stabilizer, braided stainless steel brake lines, dual batteries, on-board air system and if that isn't bad enough, wait until Phase 4 is finished. I am testing and guineapigging so much s#$% I need to give the seat up to a crash dummy!
Don't be afraid to go it on your own guys. If you twist the screws hard enough, you can get it done. It has worked quite well for me so far. The truth will tell come Monteagle and Windrock.

The CALMINI bumper bolts to the stock locations (except for the reciever mount). I think AC should be the ones including a bracket kit in their body lift, not CALMINI including it with their bumper.
Ask ARB or TJM if they will make brackets for their bumpers, and see what sort of reply you get out of them.

I agrew, it's the people who make the body lift who shold make the brackets. Calmini will have brackets for it's 3" BL, why should they make parts to supplement other people's body lift also?
I do wonder if their kit will fit an ARB bumper, since so many people already have them.

That is VERY true. If you are going to make a complete kit, it should include a bumper remounting system.

The issue here is not who should make the bracket. The issue is why not say "no" in the first response.
What I find intersting was it was not a flat out NO until I told them where I got the Body lift FROM. And on the Calmini I would rather have THEM make the bracketry for that center support thing they got (you know the one that goes to the spare tire mount) I could live just fine with the "we do not make a two inch body lift, you are screwed" answer IF it was in the first response, why waste my time, and thiers if they have no intention of supporting a 2" body lift? Which I really want to stress this IS FINE WITH ME, THEY DO NOT MAKE A 2" BODY LIFT, I understand that.
I hope EOE will be able to hook me up with thier bumper configured for a 2" body lift (and according to thier web site they DO make custom brackets) When I get my bumper I want to be able to bolt it on and go NOT spend two days making brackets like I did for the ARB (and they are still not done, but that is ok as I still do not have a winch).
edit to add: as I said in the original post I am whining I got my hopes up that they may support my 2" body lift only to be shot down ;-) I think there is only three Xterras with 2" body lifts out there, mine, Maddog's, and Goth's so it is not like it will make them a fortune supporting it.

Actually, killerX has a 2" B.L. also. I haven't installed mine yet and don't think I will for quite some time due to a variety of factors. Mainly, I don't have the time needed and I'm not about to pay big bucks to have someone do it.

I e-mailed Calmini and asked who makes their shocks and they gave me this one sentence reply:
"They are Calmini shocks!"
I doubt they make their own shocks, they just have a dick head answering e-mail who doesn't want to anwer questions.

No manufacturer can afford to make shocks (unless they are a shock company). They can have shocks tuned for them, and built to length, but they are all going to come from Tenneco or another major shock manufacturer.
If you want to have fun, call AC and ask who makes their upper control arms.

Perhaps someone in a customer service related field can answer this for me...Is there just really a prevailant mentality of "We simply don't care if you're happy or not"? I mean...has it just come to a point where what the customer asks is not worthy of at least a reasonably respectful answer. Not an answer "We don't do that." I guess I'm old fashioned or something, but damn...essentially these people are being paid their salaries by those they are treating badly. I know we all have bad days...hell, many days I have the entire creative direction of a million+ dollar advertising account on my shoulders, but I would not field a call from my client as "Sorry...that ad didn't make it to the magazine. Maybe next month. I know we had the space reserved...but, well, the computers went down...and one of my art directors came down with a bad cold. But hey...think of it this way....Everyone now has a handy note page in the middle of Hearth and Home magagzine courtesy of ________"
Not trying to start a flame war on one of my first posts here, but customer service (or the lack thereof) is something I would like folks in the after-market venue (as well as many other industries) to address. Just tell me why it so often leaves the customer with a bad taste in his mouth.

Sometimes it's just a case of Office Space creeping in ... "So Peter, it looks like you've been missing a lot of work lately" ... "Well Bob, I wouldn't say I've been missing it".
Yeah it sucks when customer service is bad, but you're not always talking to the people who really care. If you don't get anywhere useful try to get in contact with somebody higher up. If you get a strange answer like "They are Calmini shocks" then try asking in public on the Manufacturer's forum at XOC. Maybe they had a bad cold and whatever drugs they were on simply had their brains working only halfway -- people are inherantly prone to error and this may simply be the case.

Sounds familiar.... I just remembered some parts I ordered from Calmini in November I havent got yet:cyclops:
My understanding is that the guys at Calmini are "Super Busy" and their lack of service is due to their pursuit of quality taking priority over their communications...or something. At least that is what I was told......I gotta ask about those parts though....hmmm. If it wasnt for XTerraparts.com running "interference" I would be totally clueless (that leaves me open for some comments eh?:D ).
