is it possible to have both a supercharger and a turbocharger?

Indeed.
I don't remember which magazine it was (Sport Compact Car, if I remember correctly...), but they took this MR2, stuffed a v6 in it, and proceeded to "dual-charge" it. I'm not sure on the progress of it, but last I checked, they had this problem with the heads lifting off the block and spraying coolant everywhere...

its doable but its so complicated to set up and tune that its not worth it.

he asked if it was posible, and I answered that "it's doable" meaning it's possible. I also went further and explained why is not widely used due to complications.

I'm confused as to how I did not answer his question properly.

Thanks, i was just checking out my options but then i realized that theres really no point in it since the pressure you can apply is limited. I have a 1997 z3 1.9, does you know anywhere i could find a turbocharger for it? I need more hp, fast. the stock z3 only comes with about 138. thanks a lot

Neutrino: I'm sorry, I was trying to be funny, and it was late at night... I don't know what I was thinking.

Speedfreak: The Z3 came with a 1.9? I didn't know that... Anyway, look at www.dinan.com It's the only BMW tuner that I've heard of with power upgrades, instead of style upgrades (like bimmers need it?). Another good place to look is inside such magazines as EuroTuner, where the focus is on European autos, instead of those beasts from the east, like in SCC and others. (I'm not saying that SCC and others focus ONLY on Japanese manufacturers and tuners, I'm just saying to look at the "Euro Only" magazine....)

turbos aren't car specific. you can throw a kit together yourself for far cheaper than what a kit costs.

of course it might not look all that great compared to a kit but if you cant find one then this may be your best option.

however just to add to that, its highly recomended you get a turbo whose compressor map matches the mass air flow of your engine

There was a company that used to sell a supercharger kit for the factory turbo MR2. It's called 'twincharging'.

A turbocharger like the MHI TD04HL-15T-5 or similar should probably work fine on that engine.

that would be awesome though to do supercharger and turbo...dont have to wait to spool up but once it does...damn! :) and a blow off valve.

It's so complicated that you likely won't get it to work properly, Lancia used it in group b rally during the late eighties, it took them some development to get it to work properly, and they are a car manufacturer.
