i think in reality a roots type blower on a Viper or or Corvette would be almost impossible. Most of the fuel injected cars are running belt driven blowers. But, i do remember awhile back seeing a nice viper with a roots blower in SAE.

You may be able to rig up a centrifugal supercharger.
http://www.imbalancechemical.com/lucky13/
Look under how-to's. If that doesn't work, you can use that same tutorial to learn how to make a turbocharger.

:eek7: What do you think drives a roots type supercharger, or centrifugal for that matter? A belt! How is it impossible? The lightning has EFI and runs a belt driven ROOTs supercharger.

I couldnt think of the correct word for the non roots type blower. But, the setup the 8.0L and LS6 uses it would be nearly impossible to use a roots. But if you beg to differ, show me an 8.0 or an LS6 with a roots.

In modeling terms: A centrifugal blower would be much easier. You would have to build an entirely new intake etc.
In reality: Why would you add a roots blower on the LS6/LS1/Etc. A centrifugal blower is more 'cost' efficent. More money then brains..or vise versa..which ever way you want to look at it.
Leroy, your still an asshole, now stfu.
on a side note: Actually, no i dont have my foot in my mouth. That would be nearly impossible..maybe a toe, but not a foot. Astoride, i also see you own a "Chevrolet SS" Would this be a Camaro?

I would think that a roots type would be the easiest in both 1:1 and 1:25? You'll have to make a new intake either way, and a roots type can sit right on top of the motor, which would make the gains instant on the throttle. Plus, I think roots have been around a lot longer, which would make it easier to fab one up, and aren't they pretty reliable due to their simplicity? In scale, easy peasy. You can score a flathead supercharger from Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland (here (http://www.scaledreams.com/_BORDERS/RMFH90.JPG)) which is so freakin' pretty and about the right size, though maybe not particularly prototypical, or just chop in half one of the superchargers that comes standard in just about all Revell or AMT kits. Making a new intake, no problem, since most of it will be hidden by the supercharger and really, I don't see why you couldn't use the intake manifold that came out of whatever kit you stole that supercharger from.
Sorry CamaroSSBoi, 86SR5 is on it like an Easter bonnet.

I do agree with you on some points, but lets use the 5.0 and 4.6 Mustangs motors for example. I think a centrifugal blower would be easier in model scale. All you really have to do is create a new pulley, some belts, and make a new pipe. You can still use the same upper and lower intake. Same goes for the LS6/LS1, Viper. Anyways..why be blown when you can be (turbo) boosted?

No turbo lag? Linear power curve? Couldn't tell ya.
Ya'll cut it out. I like both ya'll's threads and I don't want bickering to cause any trouble with the mods.

one last thing before i sign out:
How am i acting like a "loser?" Please explain that to me, Leroy. I openly addmitted to being wrong. So, why am I a loser? Although, I must admit, being called a 'loser' over the internet is pretty damn funny.

And the Vette:

Be glad you didn't see all the pics of the Corvette, as they guy just cut a hole in the hood to clear the supercharger - not even a pretty hole. It looks awful. But the supercharger is so pretty - I love how the belt drives a pully that runs to a shaft at the back of the supercharger. Clever and pretty. Makes me want to fab one up for kicks.

Isn't it funny how two people can ruin someone else's thread with childish bickering?
Anyways, the main issue with roots-type blowers on these cars is hood clearance. As with those pics above, if the owner cut a hole in the hood, it's because there wasn't enough room. With enough money, anything is possible of course, like a custom hood or really trick low-profile blower and accessories.
In scale, the sky is the limit, of course. You don't have to worry about how it runs, only how it looks. There are several kits that have roots-type blowers in them, but centrifugal ones are few and far between. Scratchbuilding one would be neat, because it would be different.
Damn, that vette is from Montreal! Gonna have to keep an eye peeled for that...

A custom hood is far from what I would call "almost impossible." This is the internet, everyone has an opinion, and they want to share it no matter how "knowledgeable" the are. If I have an opinion that I am not 100% sure is correct, I refrain from sharing. And on the occasion I do share those half truths, I am sure to qualify them by adding a disclaimer and asking for correction or clarification. Further, I absolutely refuse to stand for misinformation. If I see it, I have to correct it. Maybe it's the teacher in me. Maybe it's the nosey Nelly. Maybe it's just the intrinsic ass that lies dormant in willimo. Who knows. But sorry, I won't let it stand.
