Pulling Trouble Codes

Hello everyone, first time poster here.
My question, I have a 3.4L V6 1994 Camaro, I was wondering if there is a way to pull the engine trouble codes with out paying someone with a computer to do it?
I remember in my 85 I could jump 2 connecters with a paperclip and it would blink out the codes for me. If it is not possible to do so, can anyone reccoment a cheap code puller that I could purchase for future use. Thanks in advance.

sorry buddy its just not going to happen for you...
however if you have a autozone nearby they will scan your car for free...

advance doesnt do the trouble codes just the battery test, atleast the one near me doesnt...
