Parking brake release cable

On my original post of this suject I got two replies that did not really address the problem but looking at the post again, it appears that I was not very clear. Thanks to those who responded.
I need to remove the housing/tube that the release cable threads through. This is the one mounted on the left side of the dash on a '94. The little nub on the end of the cable broke off at the release lever. The replacement unit is the housing and the cable. Tried just about everything to get that thing out. Looking at the new part, it appears that the old one should just twist out but can't get it to budge. Thanks
