1gen BOV Question

OK I finally upgraded to a 1gen bov and have had it for a few days.... have been waiting for the adapter plate I got off of EBAY!!!! Finally today I got it!!! anyways...
First question is for the bottom of the BOV... There is about a 1/64 in recessed area off the side of the flapper with a 1/8 in hole... What is it for?
Second question is there any type of gasket material anyone could suggest? I've got some permatex Ultra Copper sensor safe high temp RTV silicone gasket maker. Just by the name I assume this would be fine BUT I'd rather ask and be safe than to F anything up just by chance!!! :naughty:
I just want to get the damn thing in my car and get rid of my 2gen BOV... I got plans for it!!! Plans involve a torch and 2gbov :iceslolan

I just went to pep boys and bought the gasket material (comes in a roll) and made my own gasket. I just cut it with a razor blade. As for the hole, I don't know what it does, I just know you can't cover it. Instead of torching the 2g BOV, why not sell it to some dude in the honduh forum. :)

LMAO... good idea!!! It leaks though... but if they are dumb enough to buy a honduh they are the same for a leaky BOV!!!
I know you don't want to cover the hole.. I was just curious as to its purpose.. Thanks

:smokin: LMAO Vince!!!
I ended up using some 1/16 rubber and cut it out as needed for a gasket.... excellent seal!!! :iceslolan
So could a honduh really use this bov even though it leaks? If they only push about 5-6 psi ?

Lol joe, you ain't kiddin! Most of my honda friends are dumbfounded that stock boost is upwards of 15+ psi! They are even more amazed when I tell them that the 4g63 will take 400+whp on stock internals no sweat! ;)
But yea, about the stock 2gen BOV; I'm selling mine along with my stock t-25 turbo to my friend that wants to put a small turbo on her integra :)

9-10 turbo honda's wont push more then 7-9psi. so that bov's perfect for what their going to use it for.

Typically, adding 15 psi of boost would double HP in a perfect world. In reality its a little less. Since atmospheric pressure at sea level is about 15 psi, anopther 15 psi of boost doubles the air into the motor. With the fairly efficient high output motors honda puts out these days, they do pretty well. On 10 psi the ex GFs '00 civic Si put out ~250 WHP. And the math works out. ;)
