and... is it just me, or is there no engine?
this is my first non-revell model, and even though those were horrible, (the last one I built was a Shelby Series 1, and the body didn't fit on the chassis, not to mention half the suspension parts not fitting) at least their hoods opened, and they had engines.
So what's the deal?
edit: just realized there was a kit review thread.
and... hi, I'm a newbie.

Welcome to AF! Most of the Japanese kits are curbside (means that they don't have an engine). The Fujimi RX-7 is one of them. The Tamiya RX-7 has an engine.

thanks for the reply...
That's good to know. I guess I just wish it had an engine. =(
How can I find out if a kit has an engine or not when I order my kits online? www.best1hobby.com doesn't give that kind of information in the product descriptions.

Just ask here, before you buy any. :)
As far as Tamiya kits are concerned, Alex compiled a useful list. Check here:
http://www.italianhorses.net/tamiya.htm
No one has done that with Fujimi, Aoshima or Hasegawa. Some do come with the engine, but most don't. Just make use or search in AF and if you can't find any review, post a question.
If you need the 13B engine in your B-Spec, get the Tamiya kit with a black RX-7 on the box (, but not the red one).

the next car I'd like to do is a S15 Silvia... any one know of a 1/24th kit of this car with an engine?
I mean... the engine is the most fun part for me... but, I am having a lot of fun with this RX7... Trying to use the techniques I've been reading about here. I tried making custom exhaust pipes (dual exhaust), but failed/gave up... I'd like to try some simple interior mods... any suggestions?

I usually ask in the shop if i can have a quick look at the contents and maybe instructions. That way you can see if it is detailed enough for your needs.
I say this becase they usually don't like people just taking boxes off shelves and opening them at will. If you ask they don't seem to mind you having a look. :naughty:

It's never happen unless you scratch it. Most of the Japanese model are curbside. Tamiya had some with engines and they must be the only manufacture who can build engine for jap cars. Aoshima usual come in half engine, Fujimi...try EM series, that's come with engines, other are all curbside.
My 2cent:
Never give up when you are failed on some project, give patient and pratice on your models, the outcome will stunned yourself after completed. 'Nobody born to know flying', everyone have to walk, jump and fly...at least I think that way, maybe is already old fashion. :2cents:

the only problem with that is, I don't know of any hobby shops on the big island, so I purchase all online...
thanks for the tips though.

almost finished the b-spec. I wish I had my cam... I'd post pics.
I screwed up on a few things... but uh... They're not very noticable on first glance... lol... anyways...
I'm really surprised at how easy this kit was.. everything fit together perfectly, except for the bumper, which required a little bit of coaxing to get it to fit... but everything else is good... I even scratch built some nitrous tanks with line from one of the extra muffler parts...
but anyways...
are there no silvia kits with engines?
