im not trying to diss mr2s, im just saying this cause i had to get so many things replaced. first both my power windows stop working, then my alternator goes bad. couple weeks later i get two brand new tires for the back, then my car starts to feel weird at high speeds on the highway, i take it into the shop, and they say the rear bushings, and bearings are bad. a month later, my engine starts to feel funny, it stutters when i push it, but not when i drive it normal. 2 weeks later, it wouldnt start anymore, so i take it into the shop. after they checked it out, they said my timing belt, alternator belt, water pump, heat shields, seals, and a couple other stuff needed to be replaced. a week after i get it back from the shop, the ignition box locks up, i did everything to turn it, turned the steering wheel and everything, it was definately locked, something was broken, so i take it into the shop again. i estimate the money i spent total on repairing this car comes out to about 2500. so what next? the transmission? im sick of this. how many things have you guys replaced on your mr2s?

Nothing. Just add-ons. You just must have gotten lemon. Car must have seen enough or something. Just my .02

yea but those are things that needed to be replace, no frame damage, or cover ups on the body, its just all wear and tear. my car has 150k on it. i had it for a yr till this started happening. is this still considered a lemon or something?

I've replaced alternator, radiator, brake rotors/pads. Regular maintenance. (shrug)

Oh yeah, and I have an exhaust leak somewhere... no matter, I'll be slapping on headers and a new exhaust anyhow :D

I've recently replaced my alternator, my coolant filler neck, and some radiator hoses, the only problems I've had at all with the car in 1 year and 6k miles, it now has over 170k miles on it, so, that was all to be expected I suppose. I love my MR2

Maybe you should try getting second opinions?

... regardless our cars are getting older, they are going to require maintenance, things are going to need to be replaced.
I assure you there are other 14-year-old cars that would require much mroe attention.

I thought my car is near dead 216,300miles on it. when I run it in the freeway kinda only 2 cylinder is werkin or water in the tank no power at all shaking on idle speed, could only run 40 miles/hr. and after replace the ngk spark plugs its runs smoother back to normal I love my na turbo mr2.

hey i got a mk1 i had it for about 4 months first the motor mount brook off the frame so i had to to drill through the frame and bolt it down (im out in germany serving in the army part of the first armored division) they have some retarded rules for working on ur cars here next my main bearing goes out so i replace the whole motor when the motor was goung in it fell off the transmission jack and landed on the distributor so i go out iand find one off a corolla that works now i got a cracked exhaust header and a intale that is leaking also the motor wont idel right its running soo rich that when i hit 7 grand on the tack a flame about a foot shoots out the exhaust its bad ass but i get about 75 miles to the tank now the starter just went out and it was a brand new starter it wont engauge the flywheel also the last time i drove it the exhaust mannifold was glowing and melted the distributor cap it wont even run now but i am going tyo keep it because it is the best car i have evey owned (86 toyota pickup, 90 dodge minivan 92 geo metro turbo charged by my self) i love it
