What type of coolant do I need for my 97 m3? The warning light came on to check it and it was just below the min level.
Talked with the service center and they said just add some water and at a later date they would add some antifreeze. They said that the coolant at pep boys, etc isnt the right kind.
So what is?
Thanks,
PCH

Hi there, from what i know, BMW is very particular about their coolant. I think their coolant is ammonia and some other chemical free. Using the wrong coolant will serious damage you radiator. I advise you to get the coolant from BMW, I bought mine ( 1 litre ) for $16 canadian. Pretty steep for coolant, but that is the safest bet. You got to mix the coolant with water ( 50/50 ) before using it. I think you can just add water for the time being, but try to add coolant as soon as you can, cause plain water has a lower boiling point.
