aright, well then, i don't know where that came from but.... the first paragraph is pretty much right..... i puff the chronics every once in awhile, i am a prep, i wear ralph lauren, polo, gap, tommy, nautica all that kinda stuff.... and my parents do buy whatever i want

car... well actually my dad bought me my 2000 bmw 328ci for my 16th birthday....... and i'm still 16 not 17 yet.

Just to remind everybody that this topic isnt about whats in your user profile and why you didnt fill it out, but is actualy about a long running and very serious debate concerning the peformance of a stock standard Honda Civic versus the performance of a Nissan/Infinity G20/Primera.
And more Speficly the fact that my Stock standard Civic is faster than Primera_mans Primera!

I can see i'm going to have to try and get my arse up to Taupo to meet you and end this battle on the track and sort this out !!!.

Not really, Iv done in a bit in my time though, living where I do and being raised by a father obsessed with sailing Iv had plenty of opertunity. Last time I went fishing at taupo though I would have been about 10 and caught a nice 4lb Trout.
But if im going away for a weekend Driving, Drinking, screwing, driving and sleeping all take proity over fishing. (not all at once of course. you should never drink and sleep).

Ill agree with that.. Since I own a civic I can say this... US Civics are slow.. even if you have the usual bolt ons they are still slow... Just because you have a loud exhaust doesnt mean your running 12's... or 15's for that matter.. Just drive your slow cars and dont try to show off unless you have something to show.. :biggrin2:

i was thinking about getting a Civic for my first car to soop up..but dang you guys have REALLY discouraged me. I dont have ALOT of money to spend right off, and i was looking into somthing that would be nice and fun to play with, but you guys talk like its a piece of sh*t. Thanks for killing that for me. I wish that i could find a car that is respectable and wont cost me an arm and a leg. :mad:
ALso does anyone know of a site that shows cars (mainly honda) being sooped up in stages?? Like a "before and after" kinda thing??

If you want a fun car try to find an older turbo car... older talons, starions, stuff like that you pick up for a decent price and it doesnt take a lot to make fast.. That my opinion though.. I dont know your budget or tastes so thats hard to call.. As for the webpage.... There are tons and tons of sites that talk about modding civics.. Id just find a search page and start hunting..

I currently own a 93 pontiac sunbird with a '94, 4 cyl engine....I am really sick of this car. It has over 130k miles...not on that engine but on the car. I want to sell that and get someting nice that i can mod. I'm not looking for an old muscle car or anything like that..But i will admit, i love the look of a rice burner with a great looking kit, VeilSide especially (but who doesnt).
What i am looking for is something cheap (under 12k) that i can fix up gradually within a year before i have to transfer to another college.
I hear Civics are really nice versatile cars to deal with, but i want something that i can make have some power. A '94 Civic Si HB has 125 HP and im sure it can be mod'ed up pretty nicely (since it was used in the fast and the furious). But since i am VERY new to the "car scene" i am really clueless as to what i need to look for in a car. I want something to soop up and something that can look nice on the outside. And Civics can do just that (from what i have been told).
I have also been lookin at a Nissan 300zx and a '95 Mitsubihsi Eclipse.
So tell me what ya think.....

You right.. Civics are great cars especially if you have to drive them everyday.. If you want performance Id look at an integra or SI's, my suggestion would be find something with a DOHC (Dual Over Head Cam) You can get the most out of these. It takes a lot more work to get some power out of a SOHC. You can find an older integra or Civic HB for probably around 7000+- depending on the car. I would have to say the 5th gen hatch will probably be the next car I buy. I have a friend that 18b thats got a bent rod, Im wanting to build that up, turbo it and slap it in a hatch.. That should be a ton of fun..

I was just looking at a web page that had about 400 pics of different Civics that have been mod'ed and had kits on them and stuff like that. I kinda liked the hatchbacks, but i need something that has a trunk that i can move things in. The pic that you are looking at is a pic of a car that i think is beautiful. Not just the painjob or jit, but i like the car itself. Is there anyone who can tell me what Gen or year this is?? Or is it like a CRX or Si or something of that nature??? I will be using this car everyday, so i want power in it, but also reliability.:)

Another question:::
A normal Civic has about 130 Hp in it, what exactly can i do to up the power of that with out droping a new engine in it?? Please, when you give a response, tell how much hp each thing will add.

Thats a (92-95) 5th Gen.. The EX's have 127 hp.. You can do about anything you want to them.. everything from an intake... to Turbo.. cams, pistons, rods.. It doesnt matter just depends on how much you want to spend.. Thats the great part about hondas Anything you want you can get..

yes it was a 5th Gen coupe stock its probably an EX which means it has a SOHC 1.6 L VTEC motor in it. Single over head cam is just what it says it is it has one cam that sits at the top of the motor. DOHC has 2. One cam for Intake and one for exhaust. They pruduce a good bit more HP (about 35 hp) I did the whole run down for you in another thread you posted.. good lui

But what the hell is moopie talkina bout, ok that lil civic has like 160 hp blah blah blah but that was like back in the day when it first came out. That car is sooooooo old i wouldnt run that shyt id be scared the engine would fall out or suttin. And as for that lil comment about primera man putting his feet through the floor I think moopie will be doing that much much sooner with that older civic then Primera man will. Primera is gonna take it (its a better car, better engine and wont fall apart the minute it hits 4,000 RPM)

Yes that car pictured is a 92-95 Civic coupe with an Ex engine. It has 125hp and I would suggest you read up on the threads in the FAQ in this forum and goto a site called www.howthingswork.com There they explain the basics of engines and such.
