Avoid the photo ticket!

I have heard stories of people spraying their licence plates with clearcoat paint to avoid speed cameras, but does anyone know if this spray actuall works:
http://platespray.ca/
or is it a scam?
Our province is getting more red light cameras, and threats of photo radar are rampant, so, before I spray my plate and try it out down the street, does anyone have an opinion?
(ahem....not that I would ever knowingly break the law.........)

Ive seen those things before...havent tried it myself but my frieds tell me that it works great. In toronto, they have this system for the highways where you can go into the collectors lane, thats less travelled, but you have to pay for it. the way it works, is that they take a pic of your plates when you enter and then send you the bill by mail....theyve used the spary and have never received the bill...

Those type of products actually work quite well. A few of my mates have had their plates done and haven't been caught by speed cameras or red light cameras.
Some brands of clear hair spray work just as well. When the flash goes off, it just reflects the light much brighter, making the plates un-readable.

Those actually work well. I read about on an add in Road and Track. I havent tried it but we have so many redlight cameras in our area, I may need it.

Ah the lengths humans will go to to push the boundaries set by governing bodies they elect. Time, more money, effort - just to get to the next place to push some more boundaries. The irony.

If you are running red lights, you are an idiot who needs to be taught basic rodskills before someone gets hurt.

jcz1987-- Mail me your drivers license, so I can cut it up and send it back to you, Red light cameras make 20,000 times more sense than speed cameras.
People, if you're breaking the law, then deal with it, simple as that.

I can't remember the last time i drove on the motorway and didnt break the speed limit. The limit on the M1 here is a completely unreasonable 70mph, even old grannies drive quicker than that. 90, even 100 is a completely reasonable cruising speed as long as you maintain a safe distance to the guy in front.
Red lights however mean STOP.

Yeah, I see more and more of those cameras now. I read somewhere that the average time frame is 4 seconds after the red light appears that the camera will go off, and some cities set them at 2 seconds or so. I've seen the cameras go off before and the drivers actually drove through the red light way after the light turned red. I've also seen drivers blow the red light, but the time allowed let them get through the intersection without the camera going off, so if you get "flashed" you probably deserve it.

How much does it really delay you by having to stop at a red light? If you go through the light and get t-boned than your really going to be late.

Just clear spray paint works for me, I only use it for the speeding though the limits in some places here are just fucking rediculious, in some places they have you slow down from 100km/h to 30km/h on a perfectly flat stretch of hiway for like 1 km then back to 100km/h there is no reason to slow down there, but they put a camera there because it is a total cash cow! I dont run reds though, thats just stupid

i dont ever run reds. i really dont see the point in arriving in any specific destination 30 seconds sooner.

i just seen this on the news the other day... the government is trying to make it illegal and take the product off the shelf and make it no longer available to the public! i was amazed they would put that on the news, i bet the stores that sell it made a good profit off that stuff that day!

hey, I just saw this segment on Top Gear where they tested a theory that you could be going so fast that the cameras would not be able to take a picture of you.
well, it works :grinno:
as long as your car goes 170 mph, you can stay away from getting those pictures taken

theres also clear covers you can buy. I heard about that somewhere i forget where. But basically they are a plastic casing thats highly reflective or something, so when the camera takes the picture all they see is a white block of light where the license plate shoudl be...

It's a little off topic, but i have to share the laughter with you. A buddy of mine from B.C. told me this a few weeks ago.
Just before he moved to this area from B.C., they put speed cameras and red light cameras in vans and the like where he used to live. Nobody knew about them until they recieved tickets in the mail for various speed offences and running yellows a little too late. Everyone was complaining about them, and wanted some way to get the cops (or the government) back.
They found out that these vans were un-manned, and just had the camera setups in them. They got together one night, and came up with a plan.... :thinkerg:
They pulled up behind one of these vans, and removed the plate from it. They ended up putting the 'borrowed plate' on his car, and proceeded to fly-by the van as fast as they could go, setting off the camera with each run. :evillol: Put two and two together, and you can envision the faces when the van gets numerous citations on itself. :lol2: Just to add insult to injury, the last run was done with three bare arses pressed against the glass......
I don't know if this is true or not, but it made me :spit: when he told me the last part of it. Even if it isn't true, it makes for a great story....

we dont have any speed cameras here that i know of. all we have is those signs that the cops put out to tell you how fast you are going and what the speed limit is. If i wanted to know how fast i was going, i could look at the speedo. I think its funny when people slow down for them because they think there are cameras in them. i speed up usually. (only if there are no other cars around of course)
