Im gonna sell my 89 toyota :o camry that got given to me, im thinking about buying an 89 integra and doing some low level engine mods to it, i would get a prelude, but too many of my friends have got one or plan to get one, so I wanna know if it will beat a 89 prelude, both stock, before i buy it, if it doesnt i will look for another car, round the 89 year, i was gonna buy a 89 celica but i heard ludes will chomp them, and im not too fond of toyota, the camry is just a POS car (handling wise) even though its old.

it's not gonna beat an 89 prelude. why not get a 90 integra? you'll barely see a price difference and it has a b18 which has a much wider aftermarket for parts than the ZC. although in stock trim, it still wouldnt beat a 89 prelude.

i dont have enough for a 90 model
i have checked the trading post and just checked again
89 = $5500 - 7500
90 = $8000 - 10000
this is in AU$ probly 1-2 grand less after negotiating

oh ok, you live in Oz. i was about ask what country you were from for 8000 bucks. that still comes up to a bit over 4000 U.S. over here you can find a 94-95 GSR under 5000 pretty easily. if i were you, which im not, but if i was i would wait a little longer to pick of a car, especially when your intention is to beat your buddy's lude. god i love australia, where any ordinary american making minimum wage can pick up a skyline for dirt cheap.

i might get a loan and buy a 91 LS but my friend is gonna get one
there is a car dealership near my place that sells r32s for ~$10,000US
but they have like 180,000ks on them and have been thrashed, they had 2 supra TTs for $36,000AU, but its not a good idea to buy from them, someone had opened the door of the skyline onto the supra and dented the paint.

editing reply: I was wrong. You are correct, the gen2's have a b18
I have a 90 as well and it's still a helluva lot of fun to drive, even in stock form. I'd go with a 90 - the 89 was good in its time, but its a dinosaur now, and good luck finding one in good condition.

In stock form vs. an '89 Prelude, the Integra would be a fair competitor. There isn't that much difference, as far as numbers go. I'm not sure on the curb weight of an '89 'Lude, but my '89 Integra is roughly 2300 lb., give or take. It would probably come down to the driver.
Owning my G1 for about 3 years now, I have found out that the aftermarket for this model year is VERY limited. However, there are some companies out there that do carry various parts, although some were hard to locate. If I were to do it again, I probably would have gotten a G2 Integra. But I'm pleased. I plan on swapping a B16A in the near future, if my finances hold out. :p

I raced an 86 lude once in my 90 teg.
It was dead even, with even drivers.
