I mean how much for a muffler shop to make some mandrel bends and weld in the mufflers. I am asking about going from H-pipe back, to better clarify the question.

why not just order a catback system...much cheaper and not to mention less head aches, oh and most of the aftermarket systems are mandrel bent. and mandrel only takes in little effect when you are crankin out some serious numbers.

My local shop quoted me at around $300. I know them and they do good work.

I looked into buying a magnaflow catback ($450'sh shipped), but i was hoping i could buy two of there mufflers then have a shop fab me up some pipes. Oh, sidenote...my friend bought a parts car and it came with two exhaust pipes in the back (no rust/dents) and they are chrome. They will fit my car, and from the looks of it they go about a foot and half past the rear end. Can i use these pipes to help lower the cost of this little project?

If its the same car(the parts car I mean) then I don't see why not. If you went H-pipe back I would expect them to charge you around $100-$150 just for pipe and bending. It really shouldn't be to expensive. My dad's '68 6 cylinder Mustang exhaust only cost $140. It was manifold back, and that price included the muffler. Hope this helps you!

thanks for all the help guys, but i found the next best thing to getting all that work done. We picked up another parts car this time it has newer straight pipes with glass packs welded in. Am i wrong in thinking that i can cut out the glass packs and weld in a new muffler to acheive my goal?

i like the flowmasters too, but i cant afford the $165 price tag for two mufflers. I might be getting the magnaflows for around 40 shippped. Shit the way my luck is goin i won't be able to buy much else, someone broke into my car two days ago and stole my tail lights, all the plastic for the outside of the car, and my wiper blades!

jegs has flowmaster muffs for 74 dollars each.if that to much, i dont know what to tell you. but my car i beleive has offset in. and offset out. but i also have a 2000. it may be different for yours. if you call jegs, they will help you out alot, even if your not ordering anything, petent you are. lol the number for them is 1800-345-4545 or jegs.com. they helped me out on my camaro order alot about a month ago. and sorry to hear about your car being busted into, i know how it feels, i had a new 4-wheel stolen from me (Kawi.KFX400)

3 inch in, 3 inch out Dynomax's, 55 each from Summit. sound awesome. some of their mufflers are even cheaper than that, especially the ones that have smaller inlets and outlets. just remember one thing.... everybody and their great-great-grandma has flowmasters on their mustang. mustangs take a lot of heat for there being too many of them already. do everything you can to set yours apart. just my opinion, of course.

yeah, everyone does have flows. but thats because they work good and have a good name. you think everyone will put shit exhaust on, NO!!. being different is good, i like my car to be different myself, but when it comes to important things, dont cheap out or you will not be happy. like myself, i put MAC on mine, its junk. if you want to get cheap pipes and have the mustaang sound like it has coffie cans on it, go for it.
