…namely ME!!! Right now, AT&T “Broadband Internet” can take a long walk off a short pier for all I care. My internet service went down Friday, February 1st, around noon EST, and it STILL is not back up yet. That’s approaching 100 hours straight!!! This really sucks  Just thought I’d share.

Yuck! Is that a problem in general or a problem in your area? Technology sucks once in awhile :)

I'm sorry to hear that JD. Hopefully it will be back up and running soon. If it doesn't, I'd call the company and inquire as to what exactly is going on. Good luck! :)

Make them credit your acct!!! Too bad you can't bill them for lost revenue!

Ouch. Thats a long time for a large organization to be down. Must be really fucked up for that to happen.

Some of you may know that my internet went down Feb. 1st, was restored (after a very stupid error by AT&T) on March 24th, and now as of yesterday, is back down again. It's a different problem this time, so I really don't know what's up. Don't even know if AT&T is to blame this time, but nevertheless, I'm pissed!! :zx11pisse

I was on AT&T @home like 2 years ago (I was too far from a DSL ready CO). It was great, but did seem to bog down and/or go go offline occasionally. When I moved I got Earthlink 1.5 linesharing (1.5down/384down ADSL, over voice line). My pops house has 384 SDSL through my company and hasn't ever been down. I on the other hand had to use my connections to get my Earthlink line up at my place in the 1st place - they have a terrible install process, order placement support and customer sevice. Hold times with them suck bigtime (like 15-25 minutes) and their loop troubleshooting is remedial at best. Once I finally got my circuit up, they sent me the wrong equipment and didn't have UPS tracking numbers on top of that. Outside of anything Earthlink related (homepage, e-commerce, customer support) the actual connection is good.
OH! Almost forgot. A little FYI for you folks out there on Earthlink DSL.
DO NOT OVERPAY YOUR ACCOUNT. There was a bug a while back in the Earthlink automated accounting system that caused their system to submit disconnects against accounts that showed a credit. A lot of people who sent in like 2 months pay when only 1 month was due had their circuits disconnected. Make sure you get the credit card auto pay set up or pay the exact amount only because as of today I still hear about it happening sometimes.
