High Oil Pressure

I have a 2000 dodge durango 4.7 liter. I have noticed that as of late the oil pressure gauge is reading high. It is not over the normal range indicater but close to it. It has always stayed at exactly 40 psi. I brought it to a dealer and they replace the gauge, but i have the same problem. I asked the guy there and he said that it is normal for the gauge to be a little high when new oil is put in but they changed it that day and the problem was occuring before the oil change. Does anyone no if this is a problem or not and what could be wrong with it.

The motors in these things are known to sludge up for some reason. I don't know why, but that's probably the cause of it. Lack of oil changes and disregard for maintenance is probably the reason.
I'd try and blow it up if it's still on warranty, or just follow my normal maintenance routine until something goes wrong and breaks stuff.
The oil pressure sensor could also be messed up too, eh...

Check out this link. A user in that message states the common problems with Dodge durangos so these may be something you can look for. He stated the intake gasket being a possible failure which is the major contributor to engine sludge buildup. I remember reading an article somewhere that someone said that Chrysler even had a Service bulletin about the intake gasket failure problem on the 4.7's.
