hi. i found this forum doing an internet search. i have a 96 lumina. in 2001 had to have the transmission rebuilt. it just started doing the same thing, won't shift from 1 to 2nd unless you let off the gas. took it to the transmission shop. said it's got to be rebuilt again. my questions are:
do lumina's have chronic transmission problems?
if not, could there be something built wrong with this car? just after the warranty ran out had major engine problem. dealership said the(i'm not mechanical so i may have this term wrong)pully for the cylinders were put together incorrectly so they got detroit to cover it. could this be something like that(car not put together right)? how would one find out if something else is causing the failures?
is it worth having the transmission rebuilt again?
i'm desperately seeking advise and knowledge. thank you for helping me.

I would get a second opinion, my 91 did the same thing and it was the computer. Also could be as simple as the TV cable (controls shifting & kickdown) on the throttle body. Don't waste the money until you have another shop take a look at it!
