I have swapped a JDM h22a into my 93 Prelude and have noticed that when the VTEC kicks in, it is not as hard as it use to be. Before it would kick hard and go but now that i have put on about 5k on it it seems "weaker". Anyone have had this issue? Any ideas?
I use 92 octane gas and have changed my oil recently.
Thanx

It could be that there is something wrong or something needs cleaned/adjusted. Maybe do a compression check and leakdown test, then just a regular tune-up should eliminate any problems that you have, after all if you're hitting vtec then you *shouldn't* have any major problems. Unless it's a slipping clutch or something that's sapping power from the wheels...
But odds are that you've just gotten used to the car and used to vtec kicking in.
Trust me, my previous car was a 300zxTT and the first time I was in it...DAYUM...but after driving it for a while and getting used to the turbos spooling up it got commonplace and normal. So I just started modding until I ended up with about 400 whp and then it wasn't boring anymore. :sunglasse
Maybe time for some headwork??? :iceslolan

Thanx for replying. I also read about cleaning the VTEC solenoid screen, i will try that first. I changed the clutch when i installed the motor and replaced all tune-up parts at the same time. But i could be that i got used to the VTEC and now need to find more power.
