Help w/ 94 Altima

Hello,

I have a 94 Altima w/ 180K mls. The CV axle boot has a small crack and grease is coming out (passenger side inner boot). How long can I go before I change it, how urgent is this? I have a Chilton's Manuel. Are there any specials problems--w/ changing this boot--that I may encounter?

Thank you very much for your time.

Al

Just for preventative measure sake, I would just end up throwing a remanufactured driveshaft in there. I've replaced boots before, but from my experience, your going to end up changing the whole thing out anyway, because the lubrication gets slung out. If you don't care about the car and want to drive it into oblivion, then go ahead and drive it till it dies. If you really like it, then I would pop for the new axle. Hope this helps -Chris

Oh, and life expectancy is dependant on how fast the joint loses lubrication. Once it starts popping in hard turns, you know it's about to give out on ya.
