cleaning injectors help please

I am looking into cleaning my fuel injector since the motor has been on the stand for about a year now. I am thinking the injectors are going to be crystallized from sitting. I called around and found Napa is one of the only places around that does it and they want $25.00 an injector which is going to be over $160.00, is there a way to clean them well myself that someone may know of?

For that amount of money you could always invest in a fuel injector pressure cleaning tool from Snap-On, Matco, or a Cornwell tool dealer. But that's me, I like buying tools, because I know I will use them again for myself or someone else. Maybe recoupe the cost by carging someone else......

Oh I'm with you on buying tools! I was really just hoping to hear a easy at home way to do it if that would be possible. I take it WD-40 and an air gun isn't a easy fix?

Honestly I would make sure the tank has fresh gas, the fuel filter is replaced, and start the thing up. Only here is something else, go pick up a can of SeaFoam fuel/oil additive. Wierd name, I know, but the stuff works! Just fill tank with SeaFoam and half a tank of gas. Run until smooth. You may follow that up with a second treatment however. The engine will run kinda funny while your using it however. You can also check out http://www.wynnsusa.com/amp/fuel.asp for tools and other chemicals. This company has some excellent products. You may however have a hard time locating a retailer as they are more geared toward the professional shop. -Chris

I have heard of Seafoam but have never used it. Would soaking them in it before doing this work?

You could soak them in pure gas, or a small cup filled with GumOut. I guess I Don't see the harm in it. Except I don't see why you would want to waste a can of SeaFoam on soaking injectors -Chris

Just thought it may help so it runs when I get the motor in to be able to use the Seafoam.

I would just have them cleaned by a professional. You want your car to run smoothly, otherwise you will hate yourself. Jose.
