That's it.....just a check engine light? No symptoms like "the engine is on fire" or "there's a piston hanging out the side of the block"????anywho according to your profile you car is a 96' 200sx which means it is OBDII...go to autozone and ask them to use the scan tool on your car, it's free. It should give some clue as to fixing the problem, my guess though, it's usually an O2 sensor, or a miss fire.

how u expect to get help if u dont tell us wuts wrong execpt that the check engine light is on...it could be like 138413413532 number of things....

no prob....good luck....also autozone usually won't let you clear the code once it is fixed. so you'll have a couple options... 1. go to a dealer and pay them to clear it, or 2. un hook the battery for about 15 or 20 min and hook it back up, sometimes if the problem is small the computer will reset, thus clearing the code....but it doesn't always work....late Keith
