Hi all!
I just recently sold my 1969 porsche 912 and im looking to buy some american muscle.
Im going to look at a 1969 cutlass s tonight and i wanted to ask you guys some questions. The car has the original motor (rocket 350) and TH350 trans. It was rebuilt in 1997, the guy has all the receipts. The body has been repainted from its original blue/ blue top to silver w/ blue top in 1997 including new rear qtrs... no bondo. He is asking $6800 obo. If things look good i was thinking of offering $5500.
What are the problem areas for rust?
My wife wants to convert it to a 442 clone, what would this run for the hood, grill and badges? Any good sources for these parts?
thanks

Ok here goes...
442 from cutlass diffs:
Hood is same in 69
grilles are different available from year one
cutlasses are silver and 442 are black little bit different design to em
badges from year one including dashboard plaque on glovebox
most 69 442's have ram air under hood with big hoses to lower bumper
all 69 442's have 400 in em..no exceptions
69 HURST olds is only one with 455
if yours is a supreme backseat will be different cause supreme backseat is the same as a convertibles
If you want the 1970 style scooped hood they run about $450-500 bucks from most performance parts dealers.
Only prob area for rust is fenderwell lips and rear lower portion of fenders
Quarterpanels usually pretty good cause they drain water well
