98 Cherokee won't idle at first.

My 98 Cherokee Sport has about 98,000 mi. and just within the last couple days has had problems idleing once it is started. It will start (sometimes after turning over a few times) but if I let my foot off the throttle it dies. This will continue until after it has run for a couple minutes then it idles fine. Is this a fuel injector problem? I have had a couple other Jeep owners tell me they had to replace their injectors at about 100,000 mi.

Right off I would say this is a sensor issue. Your fast idle is determined by the coolant temperature, the oxygen, or MAP sensors.

After your vehicle reaches a certain operating temperature, the PCM tells it to go off of fast idle. At that time your vehicle starts running fine.

A faulty sensor could not be giving the PCM the proper information to go into fast idle the way that it should. I would try to pull the codes, then test those sensors before I went crazy with the fuel injection system.

My '98 Classic had 110,000 on it and I never had any fuel injection problems at all. Power Steering, AC, Manual Fan, Electric Fan, and torque converter on the other hand, all were replaced over the life of the vehicle
