My exhaust is 2.5" from the cat to the Y-pipe and then 2.5" to 2 n1 mufflers. Lately my car has kind of been skipping when i "gun it". Say I am crusing in 2nd at about 3k rpms, when i hit it my car feels like it is skipping through the exhaust or backfiring a lot. why does it do this? is there a major problem with the exhaust or engine? how can i fix it?

If you could define 'slipping' a bit more, it would help, but back pressure probably isn't your problem. Is your car manual or auto, it may be a bad clutch/tranny.
