I have a 1998 Camaro V6 and am thinkin about removing the cat and putting a dump in place. Does anybody know how exhaust straight from the headers sounds like on a V6? and would i have any problems after removing the cat if i got an 02 simulator?

i wouldnt do it. the v-6 relies on torque to get the car moving from a stand still and while cruising around. if you dump the exhaust right after the headers your torque curve is gonna suffer and the car will end up being slower than it was with the exhaust. you can pull the cat, but i would recommend straight piping it to the cat-back...

ok thanx would it be alright if i got one of those open and close dumps with a lever so i have it closed while driving and only open it up at red lights next to hondas?

yeah you can get one of those closable cut-outs and try it out, but i dont know how the low backpressure is gonna affect the engine's power, you might not be able to take that honda next to you without the low end torque...

pry another option would be to get a high-flow cat and just put the cutout after it.. then it wouldnt rob you of the backpressure i dont believe.. and keep the exhaust stock beyond the cutout so you get kindof a stealth "sleeper" effect.. those hondas wont know what hit em.. also dont the 98's have 2 catalytic converters?

Only one cat on my v-6. I just had to get it replaced. Thank god it is under warranty. It had single exhaust until I got my flowmaster dual exhuast that just takes the signle and splits it. The high flowing cat is a good idea to keep the back pressure so i will look in to that.
