wire strippers

i saw an infomercial for some automatic wire strippers last night.
i was wondering if anyone here has used something like that and if it worked like they say it does? i know that infomercials are lame and all but this was da bomb.

some tools work better than others

my brother got one of them and they work well for smaller wires but have trouble with larger,thicker coated wires. They work especially well on small wires that your only taking like an inch off the end.

It is also difficult to use them in tight places like under the dash.

i saw those also, they work pretty good, but sometimes its better than normal ones under the dash

I'v used them but dont like them, I have a craftsman one that has built in crimpers and such, also have a set of small craftsman ones that fit in small places and such. For anything larger 10g I allways use my kershaw.

mine has an adjustable knob for compression strength, they work fine for me...

Just go to a hardware store like Lowes or Ace, they have wire strippers there. It just depends what you want and how much you want to spend.

i love the pair i have from Matco i think the model is s515 or something like that...run about 20 dollars.

I have a pair, and I have some normal ones. I use the auto ones almost all the time, it's fast and simple. The "normal" one I use in tight places like under the dash or whatever, and for wire larger than 10g I use my kershaw

scissors?!?!?! I suppose you guys dont install 20 radios a day...yah i suppose that would work although it is nice to have a good pair since they are very useful.

20 radios a day huh...those strippers come in handy,
we got some calling station cables with about 40 pairs...
we got growler stations with over 100 pairs...
then we got conn boxes and telephone crossconnects...
even though phone crimpers have their own strippers, those SOB's got thousands of wires
