I'v been experiencing trouble with my 2002 Trailblazer since approx 12k. Tachometer jumps constantly at around 48-50mph. Now, at 50,000 the trans shifts hard after vehicle is warmed up. I've had this to the dealer 4 times, they can't find anything. One told me I was 2 quarts low on trans fluid, but couldn't find any leaks, and it didn't change the problem. Next oil change, my trans fluid was 'overfull'. Would like to hear from anyone with similar problems, and if GM has offered any relief.

I have a 2002 Trailblazer, 38,000 miles and the other day it would not go in reverse! I know that the transmission is screwed! So I am now 2,000 miles over my warrantee and have a car payment on a car that I can't drive unless I spend upwards of $2,000.00 to fix. I have not had it diagnosed yet, afraid to. But I will be so mad if I need a new trany!

Kick this up to Chevrolet. Call the 800 # and explain your problem. I have had good luck with that approach with other GM cars. I would reccomend that approach with both of you. BE NICE when you call GM customer service.

My Trailblazer lost it's tranny about a month ago. We were driving along & heard a big bang. Lost reverse & 3rd after that.
AAMCO said it is an inferior part that is made out of cheap stamped steel and that GM knows about it. They said the average length of this tranny is 50K miles.
I tried calling GM & was very nice. I had several conversations with them and my local dealer. They even agreed that the transmission should have lasted longer but they would not reimberse any of my repair costs.
I love my truck & my husband have been loyal Chevy customers for years. I was real upset by the way I was treated.
I'm hoping someone can give me a better recourse other than an attorney.

My trailblazer was wonderful until recently. Despite the annoying problems of the side mirrors never staying set and the clicking noise from the AC fan under the dash, I've been very happy. Then the shifting problems started. I was on my way to work last Wednesday when I heard a VERY loud bang when it shifted from 1st to 2nd. Then again out of 4th. I didn't know what it was but I had to go on to work. After work, it does it again on the way home. Several times. Then it gets stuck in first gear! I was finally able to get it to shift out and make it home. I called GM when I got home and they told me it was out of warranty. It sounds like to me that GM sure doesn't have much faith in it's drivetrain when they don't even give it more than 36,000 miles! I told them that it shouldn't matter if I bought the extended warranty or not since this isn't the radio or the power seats...it's the friggin transmission and it shouldn't go out in only 58,000 miles! They told me to take it to the dealership in the morning and then they would follow up on it. Well, the thing wouldn't even go in gear the next morning! I had to have it towed to the dealership! Now i've got a $37,000 vehicle that's useless to me! I've called and called for almost a week now and still I get no answer if they are going to do anything or not. I've spoken with the dealership and they've assured me that it was nothing that I did that caused this problem. They said the pump went out and starved the transmission of fluid which caused damage to all the gears and the entire transmission needs to be replaced. After only 58,000 miles?! I've taken extreme care of my truck and now I've got to spend over a thousand dollars to have this repared? I just traded in a 13 year old jeep cherokee that had 209,000 miles on it that had never had a single transmission problem. Actually, it never had a single major problem with it during that entire time. I'm wishing I had it back now. If GM doesn't own up to the fact that this is indeed a manufacturer problem, I will never buy another GM vehicle again. I work in sales and I will end every transaction I have with, "Than you very much for your business. Call if you need anything and please...never buy a Chevrolet."

I've had a similar run of preblems with my 2003 TB. It has gotten stuck in 1st gear once and stuck in park multiple times. It has been towed to the dealer for this problem 3 times. according to them, the transmission clutch was stuck the first time, and the others, they have told me there is nothing wrong with it. This is along with multiple other problems I've had. The dealer doesn't seem to know what's wrong, but won't admit it. I personally will never waste my money on anything made by GM again. This thing is a $30,000 piece of junk. Good luck getting it fixed!

I have a 2002 Trailbalzer, nothing but problems with taillight replace 4 or 5 times, idle clutch replaced 2 times, tranmission fluid low, I think there is something wrong with my transmssion but evey time I bring it in they can't duplicate the problems. Now my back speakers are out. I am only at 47,250 miles.

The problem with the transmission is that they used a stamped steal housing to be turned by a much stronger metal gear. The loud bang you hear is the gear stripping inside of the crapy stamped steal housing. This should be a recall but GM wont do it cause its going to be expensive. Why you ask? Because its a design flaw. Where did these idiots go to school that thought that one up. Weaker metals will always be destroyed by stronger ones. I believe they talk about that in engineering school. Oh by the way , keep your old parts when you have it rebuilt cause I'm thinking class action law suit.
