BMW 316i compact progress

Hi this is my second BMW ever built. It is the hatchback version of the E36 3-series. I think the original front bumper looks too thin and doesn't match the rest of the body so I started modifying it first thing.
The bumper design comes from the style in the PS2 game Tokyo Extreme Racer 0.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/74366Picture_001.jpg
Im also planning to put a GT wing on it. Otherwise the rest of the body would be kept stock unless I find some better looking parts.
The shape is made with styrene boards and soon many areas will be filled with epoxy putty.

Yeah, who makes that? It looks like a revell kit, but IDK.
Good work! Hope to see it finished soon!

It is the dragon kit, but some parts seem to come from Revell since their sprues have the Revell logo molded on.
This is the only one I could get my hands onto. They seem non-existence around where I live.
Milliput was put on shortly after the boards are glued on. I think I will paint the body a somewhat deep metallic green. I've mixed the paint already and are in a bottle ready to use. It will be close to the color of my civic sedan as they are leftovers from the project.

BMW comes from beating a wanderer in the game.
After first time of sanding:
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/74366Picture_007.jpg
And almost near end of sanding, flaws are present but minimal. I polished it shiny but it shouldnt have mattered because it will be covered with primer anyway. I felt like wasting extra time with the bumper :P
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/74366Picture_0091.jpg
Been building a GT wing that mounts on the edge of the trunk. It is inspired by the back of a FC3S in TXR3. The legs of my wing is complete with brackets so small and spent 1+ hours glueing them on. Might not look as good as SAS photoetch wings but Im still proud of it! :D
Side plates are complete but I will glue them on only after the glue on the legs are dried.

The wing and bumper is looking great. Are you planning anything for the rear bumper or will it be stock?

The rear bumper is going to be stock.

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/74366Picture_013.jpg
Both bumpers had primer after doing puttywork with them. Front bumper will need a little more work.
I am going to ditch the stock mirrors in favor of the smaller, more aerodynamic efficient racing mirrors. They came from my parts box and need to be repaired using paper clips as the original legs broke off.
Do you think I also need to primer the body just like the bumpers to get a uniform color when spray painting? I plan to paint the body a dark metallic green.

This is coming along nicley. I like the idea of using an european car as a tuner. Doesnt happen often. But. IMO, i think this car would look killer in Lemon Laub yellow. Its a VW Color, and its the color i used for my M3 in TXR0

Yea either that, or the M3 blue which i dont know the name of the color
As of your primer question. I would primer the whole body just in case. Atleast just a light coat. The bumper looks awesome by the way. Great work.

RB26DETT-GTR: I decided to primer the whole body first before painting colors onto it. It looks pretty good now. Thanks for suggesting.
Tikiman: The GT wing deck has a small uniform curve just like how aluminum wings are. I did it by bending a large piece of styrene board (similar to folding the board but dont apply too much force), draw a rectangle surrounding a section of the bent line, cut along the rectangle, then sand edges smooth.
Thanks to the people who suggested me colors. However because I wanted to 1. Save the car a little conservative tone and 2. Use up more of the paint I had previously mixed myself, I decided to paint the car with metallic green, added a little bit more metallic blue to the color originally for the civic sedan to make the color less grass-like. This might not be the most flashy or sporty color ever on a car but I decided to paint it according to how I want it to be.

Interior is partially stripped and added a half roll cage. Carpet will be put on around the front seats but leaving the rear part of passenger compartment empty (nobody is going to leech a ride off me from now on!) Im thinking of should I add stuff onto the dashboard (S-AFC, tachometer, gauges etc) Suggestions are welcome.
The back panel (grey part interior) will soon be painted with carbon fiber effect, just like the hood and mirrors.

A tach and S-AFC it will be on the dash.
Yay I thought green can't be too bad of a choice.
I got mine for $40 canadian.
Here is the body clearcoated and masking tapes peeled off. Im going to paint the hood and grill soon
Thinking door strips either body color or carbon effect. Which one should I choose? (white part on side are bare plastic I will apply glue on. Strips go onto it and are not in pics yet.)

Long time no see!
As I was trying to test my newly built spray booth, I brought this model out again to spray TS-13. Another reason for that was to also cover the parts of body where I polished past the clear onto the green paint.

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/262684IMG_2071-med.jpg
I lost my original F1-style mirrors after I moved, so I made a new set. It took me a long time to actually try to start work on it since I haven't touched the model for almost a year. Right now I need to relearn a lot of the building techniques I had been using.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/262684IMG_2073-med.jpg
The aluminum wing was painted except the sides. Those will be painted carbon fiber, along with the mirrors, side stripes, hood, and maybe some interior pieces. For now I am thinking of using revell ITR stock wheels. It has to be modified for the bmw tires to fit.
I hope have enough will power to finish this model T_T. . . .
