Paint problems

I have a few marks on the hood of my car. They look like waterspots and almost completely go away when they are wet. I took the car to a autobody place and they guy said it was from acid and it ate through the clearcoat. He then got a rag and some cleaner and was able to remove one. There is still a small white mark but a lot better then before. I was wondering if anyone might know the cleaner he used? He wouldn't tell me what it was and I was hoping I could buy some. I am sure it would be cheaper then having them do it.

Try washing the exterior by hand and chamoise the paint after the spot is most likely mineral deposits left from water spot very stubborn to rub out. Unless you have used a acid on your hood i cant see it bein that serious. If it is acid perhaps you should have it nuetralized before rubbing the hell out of that area , a mild car soap not detergent car soap im talkin ph balanced car soap should be used or try saturating the spot with some vinegar or amonia to help nuetralize it then rewash it after. This will slow or stop the acid from going any further. If at all possable take a pic of it and post a link to it I can tell you how far gone it is and what next steps and options you have.

I am going to try and get a picture up tomorrow. Also I have completely gone over the car with a glay bar and some Meguiar's paint cleaner. Was looking at the spots a little more today and my above discription is a little off. They are more like a solid light grey spot but once they get wet you can see the paint through them. Anyway I will get pics soon.
